Since 2001, The Brooklyn College Community Partnership (BCCP) has been partnering with Bushwick High School Campus to provide academic and college-bound support services in order to encourage more students to pursue their dreams of higher education. Our program is comprised of several different components aimed at providing comprehensive services to the entire student body at Bushwick High Schools Campus.
One of the purposes of this program is to Build Networks to College through our GEAR-UP grant [Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness to Undergraduate Programs]. Gear-Up activities include:
* College trips throughout the 5 boroughs and a few within the tri-state area
*Tutoring services provided by staff and Brooklyn College students
*Workshops focusing on the different aspects of the college application process
* SAT prep
* Assistance filling out college applications, financial aid forms, and applying for scholarships
In addition to Gear-Up, we provide fun and exciting after-school programs. These activities include:
*The Project Peace Media Collective
—Students learn techniques for creating and editing digital videos, digital photography, and blogs. These projects focus on social justice and community issues
*Dance Class
*Basketball
* Visual arts including painting and drawing
* Table Games and Snacks
*Social Trips
